SN74HC193N Synchronous Up-Down Counter IC

74HC193 (of the 74HC logic family) is a 4-bit Synchronous Binary Up/Down Counter with separate up/down clocks and asynchronous reset and preset. It has a wide supply voltage range (2V to 6V) and is capable of running at clock speeds of up to 19MHz.

Synchronous counters are often desired because of the absence of output counting spikes normally associated with asynchronous counters. With the separate clock pins, it is easy to convert quadrature outputs from other circuits to control different directions of counting. Counters are used to build many fun and useful circuits such as LED flashers, frequency dividers, alarms, machine motion control in robotics, CNC machines etc.
